Follow Christ
We want everyone to know God through an ever-growing relationship with Jesus Christ.
We teach that all have sinned and Christ is our Savior. Sinners need to hear the gospel (Romans 3:23). The gospel is defined as, “Christ died for our sins, He was buried, and that He rose again the third day” (I Corinthians 5:3-4). We all have sinned in Adam and need forgiveness in Christ. The gospel is called the good news because all our sins have been completely forgiven in Christ and we have been made right with God forever (Romans 5:18).
We invite all unsaved people to follow alongside us to hear the gospel so they can get connected to God through an ever-growing relationship with Jesus Christ.
Here are five steps we invite you to take to accept Jesus Christ:
Step 1 – Repent from your Sin – Once you have heard the gospel and become convicted that you are a sinner, you must repent for your sins. Repentance means you become so remorseful and regretful about your sins, you want to turn from your sinful behavior and receive Christ as your Savior and Lord (2 Corinthians 10:4).
Step 2 – Receive Christ as your Savior – This means you believe and confess the gospel: Christ died for your sins, He was buried, and on the third day He rose again. The Scriptures teach if we believe from our heart and confess with our mouth that Jesus Christ is Lord, we will be saved (Romans 10:8-10). We follow our confession with a public baptism to identify with Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection as our Savior and membership with His Body called the church. Our belief from our heart and confession with our mouth in Christ as our Savior and Lord comes through the regeneration by the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 1:13).
Step 3 – Regeneration by the Spirit – Regeneration is our spiritual birth in Christ by the Holy Spirit (John 3:1-8). Our spiritual birth by the Holy Spirit happens in conjunction with our repentance from sin, belief from our heart, and confession with our mouth that Christ is our Savior and Lord (Romans 10:8-10, Titus 3:5). The Scriptures teach no man can say that Jesus is Lord but by the Holy Spirit (I Corinthians 12:3). You are now born of the Holy Spirit and have His nature (Ephesians 1:13, 2 Peter 1:4,). The Spirit comes to teach you truth (St. John (16:13), hear His voice (Revelation 2:7), produce His character (Galatians 5:22-23) and to be led by Him (Romans 8:14). If you want to live a victorious lifestyle in Christ, you must nurture a relationship with the Holy Spirit.
Step 4 – Renew your mind in the Scriptures – Rebirth comes from the Holy Spirit, but renewing the mind comes from you. Our minds need to be renewed to think like Christ so we can behave like Christ according to the Scriptures (Roman 12:2). We renew our minds by meditating, confessing, and applying God’s word (Joshua 1:8). Many Christians live defeated Christian lives because they have failed to renew their minds to be like Christ. I encourage you to renew your mind daily in the word and experience your mind being transformed to think like Christ, so you can see your behavior changed to become like Christ.
Step 5 Relationship with the Saints – You were baptized into the church because you have become a member of the Body of Christ called the church. Christ died for each of us personally, but He connected us together collectively in His Body called the church. It is through the church you receive your pastoral covering for leadership, use your gifts to serve in ministry for workmanship, belong with the other members in fellowship, give your offerings to support the ministry for good stewardship, and invite the lost to follow Christ so you can increase membership.
